Woodland Public Schools will roll out a fleet of electric school buses by the 2025-26 school year. The district received $4.2 million in federal grants through the EPA’s Clean School Bus Program to replace 15 diesel buses.
This transition is part of a broader initiative in Washington state, where the number of electric school buses is expected to more than double by 2026. This marks a significant step forward in reducing emissions and promoting cleaner air, especially for underserved communities.
The Woodland School District oversees KWRL Transportation, which operates 125 school buses serving students in Kalama, Woodland, Ridgefield and La Center. By 2026, 14 electric buses will operate throughout the KWRL service area.
