A post-COVID influx of animals forced a KY animal shelter to equip and light another section of their property and stuck them with a steep electric bill. At least until the Mountain Association, The Nature Conservancy, and the Appalachian Solar Finance Fund teamed up with the Inflation Reduction Act to cover the cost of a solar installation project.
Partnering with the Mountain Association, The Nature Conservancy, amd the Appalachian Solar Finance Fund, the county secured more than $90,000 in grant funding for the $112,000 solar installation project.
The solar roof installation is expected to help the shelter save $5,000 annually in electricity.
