General Motors (GM) and Samsung SDI are investing $3 billion in a joint venture to establish an EV battery cell plant in Northern Indiana.
Construction of the plant will create an estimated 1,000 local jobs. Once fully operational in 2026, the facility will employ approximately 1,700 people.
At full capacity, the plant should be able to produce 30 Gigawatts-hours of battery capacity annually, helping GM scale its EV capacity to more than 1 million units per year.
