The City of Columbus has contracted with two local energy suppliers on behalf of its residents and small businesses to provide them with competitively priced 100% Ohio-based clean energy. This initiative is expected to create 4,000 local jobs and reduce health-harming emissions by 4.4 metric tons - the equivalent of taking 300,000 cars off the road.
Clean Energy Columbus Program plays a big role in creating our sustainable future by utilizing Community Choice Aggregation as the City’s process to contract for energy on behalf of its residents and small businesses. Through community choice aggregation and creating a large demand for renewable energy sources, Columbus can support good jobs and workforce development in the clean energy industry.
The program provides a path to Ohio-based clean energy, providing Columbus residents with the greatest health, workforce, and sustainability benefit. The program currently utilizes renewable energy credits (RECs) to provide clean energy and will move to local wind and solar as those projects are built.
