This 6 MW DC project is on 22 acres of land owned by the Sisters of the Holy Family, the 2nd oldest order of Black Catholic nuns in the country. It will lower the electricity bills of 750 families (mostly low-income) by 20% for at least 20 years. It depends on IRA tax credits or it will not be built. Although the rules haven't changed yet, the uncertainty around them is giving funders pause (since the construction money has to be spent before Direct Pay arrives) and may be enough to kill the project. The project is shovel ready, but on pause because of uncertainty around the credits.
These ten electric vehicles (EVs) were purchased in 2023 and distributed to seven City departments. The ten EVs represent an important step in the City's fleet transition to 75 percent low or no-emission vehicles that will advance the City's goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 and save the City money over time.
This project was part of our County's first phase of a three-phased green facilities capital program. It included the installation of a geothermal HVAC system, and associated distribution to replace a gas boiler system.
Light and heavy fleet vehicles included in this total.
